General Description of the position:
The Maintenance Planner is responsible for planning, scheduling, and implementing preventative maintenance, for equipment repairs, as well as monitoring, evaluating, and maintaining the necessary parts for scheduled maintenance.
Utilize and maintain the SAP Preventive Maintenance system; ensure that all equipment has the appropriate preventive maintenance set up on the proper intervals; plan each significant job and determines safety requirements, job steps, blueprints, materials, special equipment needs, and manpower required to perform necessary work.
Track status of backlog – which jobs are planned and ready to perform, which jobs are waiting for materials, which jobs can only be done on major shutdowns, age of backlog; manage compliance with maintenance objectives, etc.
Ensure that all work orders and maintenance log items are closed when work is finished; ensure proper documentation is included; schedule and follow up, while acting in a “hands on” manner to ensure preventive/corrective maintenance actions are implemented as planned; and other duties as assigned by management.
Receiving, inspection and release of purchased material. Reviews order forms for proper coding, quantities requested, and authorized approvals. Maintains established inventory levels by checking shelves and notifies supervisor at established reorder points, or prepares purchase orders. Stocks vendor deliveries in warehouse or supply room and checks that deliveries conform to purchase orders as to quantity and quality. Reports on stock damage. Mark articles with identification codes.
Responsibilities:
Provide leadership to ensure all company safety rules and regulations in accordance with Occupational Health & Safety Act are observed by employees. This includes planning the necessary resources in manpower and budgeting to accomplish site safety goals.
Plan and coordinate maintenance activities, schedule manpower, organize shutdowns and other major tasks
Ensure the Management System is effective, well understood by all employees and in compliance with documented procedures, work instructions and guidelines
Maintain liaison between the operations and maintenance departments
Ensure the execution of the daily maintenance plan
Utilize SAP by processing work orders and purchase requisitions, reviewing backlog, weekly schedules, PM’s, and updating the equipment database
Research information for new work and utilized feedback and history to improve job plans
Work closely with supervisors, operators and skilled trade groups
Facilitate weekly and daily planning meetings
Basic Requirements:
Related Engineering Bachelor Degree, or Technologist Diploma is preferred
Minimum 3+ years’ experience in mining or heavy industry
Previous experience as a maintenance planner is preferred
Previous supervisory experience is a plus
Excellent communication and people skills
Ability to work under pressure within a team environment
Strong analytical and organizational skills
Highly developed problem solving skills
Strong computer skills in MS Office and MS Project; SAP or other ERP systems experience is a plus
A self-motivated individual who will work towards Reliability Excellence
