Carrier Commercial Service creates a total solution for all building mechanical systems. In addition to preventive maintenance and comprehensive service and repairs, the team customizes BluEdge service agreements for full-building mechanical systems. Expertise includes controls, modifications, engineering, life cycle cost analysis, financial services and more, alongside equipment repair and replacement services.

About this role

Carrier Commercial Service is currently accepting applications for a Journeyperson in the Greater Hamilton area to work with the Southwestern Ontario Region (Stoney Creek) Service Team to support the heavy applied HVAC service market segments. The Journeyperson will be working onsite at various customers in the Local 787 Union jurisdiction between Hamilton, London, Sarnia and Windsor. Membership in the Union is mandatory.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide proactive maintenance and repair services of Chillers, Boilers and other HVAC and Refrigeration equipment

• Troubleshoot and solve equipment problems

• Develop and implement solutions to prevent future occurrence

• Identify, estimate, quote repairs and upgrade solutions to extend equipment life and save energy for the customers

• Establish and maintain positive and professional customer relations

• Promote branch work order sales

• Participate in work standby on a rotation schedule

• Comply and re-enforce Environment, Health and Safety Policies and Procedures

Basic Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED

• Certified Journeyperson in HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning)

• Gas Fitter 2 Certificate

• 3 years plus of experience in HVAC system design or building maintenance

• 5 years plus of experience in chiller maintenance and overhaul

• Valid driver’s license

• Work standby on a rotation schedule

Preferred Qualifications

Other qualifications you may have that would be beneficial in this role include:

• Gas Fitter 1 certificate

• Mechanical aptitude

• Able to work with Chillers, other HVAC and Refrigeration equipment

• Proficient in software tools, laptop (Office, Outlook, Excel) and handheld devices (iPhone)

• Interpersonal skills and effective at building relationships

• Client service orientation

• Team player, work well under pressure to meet deadlines and customer commitments

• Analytical and diagnostic skills

• Time management, planning and organizational skills
