About CASA
CASA Mental Health is an established non-profit organization delivering holistic, culturally-safe wrap-around mental health services to Albertans and their families. CASA provides mental health service to the missing middle – mental health treatment for diagnosed children and youth, in between prevention and promotion in primary and community care, and acute treatment in hospital.
CASA’s team of mental health professionals are trauma experts committed to delivering service in collaboration with community partners. This includes assessment and treatment for up to 4,000 children, youth and their families each year, from community outreach settings to intensive treatment programs.
About the Role
Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Financial Analyst is responsible for financial reporting, analysis, and assisting with full cycle payroll and benefits processing. The incumbent will spend approximately 60% of their time on financial reporting and analytical duties and approximately 40% of their time on supporting the Payroll Coordinator to ensure prompt and accurate processing of payroll information and payments to employees, government agency, and benefit carriers in accordance with legislated employment regulations and the collective agreement.
This is a sensitive position which requires the incumbent to act with a great deal of independence and diplomacy, while ensuring confidentiality is maintained when required.
The Financial Analyst will responsible for, but not limited to;
Reporting
- Preparing various financial reports to government and external funders (AHS, AB Health, AB Education, etc)
- Preparing AGLC annual financial reports and monitor expenses throughout the year
- Preparing monthly internal financial reporting package to management
- Forecasting, variance analysis and follow up with program or departmental areas
- Providing business support to program managers with any financial inquiries or concerns
- Preparing Finance Committee financial statement package
- Preparing annual pension information return and T1030 charity tax return
- Assisting with annual budget preparation
- Performing month end duties such as preparing journal entries (expense allocations, salary reclassifications, payroll accruals, etc) and account reconciliations
- Adhoc analysis and duties as required
Payroll
- Assisting with processing bi-weekly payroll for in-scope and out-of-scope staff in a timely and accurate manner in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and the collective agreement
- Assisting with payroll related account reconciliations (pension, benefits, vacation, and flex spending accounts)
- Assisting with setting up new and updating existing employees’ profiles in payroll system (including pension amounts, regular scheduled hours/rotation, pay rate, and benefit premiums)
- Assisting with preparing Record of Employment for departing staff and upload information to the CRA website.
- Assisting with processing bi-weekly payroll GL export from KIS to SAGE for reporting
- Assisting with processing manual cheques and pay-outs for terminated employee’s within tight timelines
- Maintaining confidential information by adhering to legal and ethical standards
- Act as backup for making bank deposits and other adhoc duties as required

Qualifications
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in Accounting or related field
- Minimum 3 years of progressive accounting experience, payroll experience is beneficial
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications (Excel, Outlook, Word)
- Experience with Sage 300 is beneficial
- Attention to detail and accuracy, excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) and a positive, team-oriented attitude
- Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality, integrity and professionalism, while working with other department team members
- Customer focused, willingness to learn, effective time management, and organizational skills
