A bit about the role & team | the opportunity:
We are looking for an enthusiastic co-op student looking to build a career in Data Analytics development within our Industry team. As a Data Analytics Developer Co-op, you will support, test and build solutions of your own based on our powerful audit data analytics solution CaseWare IDEA, trusted by accountants and auditors in over 130 countries around the world.
You are passionate about technology, writing code and creating new products helping customers solve business problems. Live a different experience by working for our Solutions team and build working prototypes that are being quickly adopted by our users. Come work for one of our most dynamic and innovative departments, at a small scale so you can touch many technologies and get a complete experience (from prototyping to marketing). You will be a part of a dynamic team which designs, implements, debugs and tests our software by creating working prototypes. You will also be able to help shape our future development by providing input regarding new technologies and process improvements.
Responsibilities:
You will work closely with subject-matter experts (Industry), Data Scientists and other programmers in a collaborative fashion to implement, design and build new features to be integrated with our existing products.
You will work within one of the following technology stacks all used in production products at CaseWare including primarily Python (Pandas, Numpy, Matplotlib, Scipy)
Perform code reviews of other developers’ work, to ensure code quality, share knowledge and provide mentorship
Research and explore new technologies, code libraries and products we may wish to integrate with.
You will be creating working prototypes in Visual Basic, VB.NET, Python or whatever is required/optimal to use.
You will interact with other developers, product owners, UX specialists, and QA testers
Requirements:
Demonstrable software and/or solution development experience, with a portfolio of examples. Include anything showing your potential, such as Business applications dashboards, App development, game development, mobile apps, Websites and/or web services, Desktop applications
Good knowledge of Python
Passionate about creating software, especially using Python
Strong OOP skills
Driven to take on and succeed with new challenges
Comfortable delivering results with minimum supervision
Eager to learn new platforms and technologies
Willing to learn about Machine Learning and Advanced Statistics
Working towards B.Sc. in Computer Science or equivalent education/work experience
Nice to have:
Familiarity with Jupyter Notebook technology, incl. JupyterHub
Some knowledge of Visual Basic, VB.NET or other Basic variants
Experience working in an agile environment
Knowledge of HTML5, CSS and JavaScript
Accounting, Finance or Audit knowledge (including Excel, Visualization tools, BI tools, ETL,…)
Knowledge of Statistics and Data Analytics.
