Your role
Reporting to the Associate Director, Content Distribution, the Archive Sales Representative contributes to the monetization of CBC’s archival content by assessing, facilitating and troubleshooting paid content use requests from a wide variety of external parties such as publishers, content producers and educational institutions. This role requires excellent customer service and communication skills, time-management, an understanding of media rights and the ability to work well with colleagues across multiple teams.
This role is a hybrid work arrangement. Work schedule to be discussed with Hiring Manager according to the guidelines defined by the department.
Please note that this is a part time temporary position until December 2024, to work two (2) days per week.
Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
Intake archival content use requests from external parties.
Interact with potential and ongoing clients through all stages of the sales cycle, from assessing initial needs to negotiating rights & determining pricing to fulfilling delivery.
Draft standard content & clip license agreements and waivers directly, and work with Legal on more complicated paperwork when needed.
Liaise with in-house Business & Rights to determine what restrictions are placed on content use, and whether clearances and other permissions are required.
Coordinate with News to determine whether applicable requests comply with CBC’s Journalistic Standards & Practices.
Generate billing requests for Finance and assist with payment troubleshooting.
Maintain accurate revenue records and a centralized contracts database.
Work with colleagues in Visual Resources, Content Management and Preservation, Sports, Audio, and other teams to determine the availability of archive assets and obtain access.
Utilize internal systems such as Cumulus and Medoc Eureka to conduct research and access elements.
Support the Senior Media Librarian by handling overflow clip licensing and cover annual leave.
We are looking for a candidate with the following:
A level of education equivalent to a secondary degree/diploma, with an emphasis on business and/or media.
At least three years of progressive experience in sales or customer service in the context of the broadcast industry, as well as a demonstrated background in revenue-generating activities.
Experience with Google Suite and Jira is considered an asset.
Knowledge of CBC’s content and offerings and internal working groups is an asset
Knowledge of media rights and intellectual property concepts is an asset.
Excellent customer service and external communications skills
Ability to manage multiple time-sensitive demands and prioritize rapidly changing needs
Comfortable with independent work in remote conditions.
