Overview

The Sr. Accountant is responsible for providing accurate, proactive and timely invoicing, cash collection, reporting and forecast. This role is the custodian of cash collection (including billing and forecasting), chasing up for payment and monitoring, and maintenance of bank accounts of the regional business unit (with the help of corporate treasury). This role is also responsible for maintaining, forecasting and timely monitoring of financial assurance (Letter of Credit and Surety Bonds) of the business. This position is an individual contributor role. The role directly reports to the regional finance lead and routinely interacts with regional operations and business development teams.

Specific Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly financial report: Income statement, Balance sheet and Trial Balance
• Set up and maintain project and coding in the system in accordance with project set up process
• Prepare/Review monthly revenue and cost accruals and ensure proper backup in accordance with accounting policies
• Intercompany invoicing and reconciliation
• Work with department director/manager to review overhead actual vs forecast
• Prepare and submit all Government reporting requirements (GST, PST, etc)
• Maintain internal controls in compliance with company and SOX requirements. Liaison with Internal and External Auditors
• Lead the quarterly forecasting of integrated financial statements of Canada union and work with the business development leads to understand the foresting beyond existing projects
• Prepare/Review General Ledger reconciliations required every month before cutoff not limited to AR accounts (monthly reporting rhythm for AR metrics)
• Help with other analytics or accounting/finance projects as directed by the management

Local Requirements

• Prepare consolidating journal entries and process post-close top-side journal entries on behalf of business units and/or legal entities
• Prepare various analyses of the consolidated accounts of the Company, including foreign currency translation analyses, Intercompany reconciliations
• Partner with other finance personnel on a global basis to ensure certain close related activities are accurately completed on a timely basis
• Backup for the Accounting Manager for wire transfers, cash funding, setup users in bank portal, and bank account and cash reporting

Qualifications

• 7+ years of accounting experience (GST and PST experience would be an added advantage)
• Bachelor’s (4 year) degree in accounting or equivalent
• CMA, CGA, CA or MBA designation(s)
• Proficient in MS Excel, Power Point and Acrobat writer
• Knowledge of ERP accounting software (JD Edwards or Oracle Cloud experience a plus)
• Experience with consolidation software is a plus (Hyperion Financial Management and Hyperion Financial Planning)
• Experience in the Energy & Construction Industry a plus.
