The Ideal Candidate
High School diploma required; Full (or in-progress) Post-secondary degree an asset
3-5 Years Logistics experience, preferably in a 3PL/4PL Logistics environment operating all modes and temperature-controlled freight
Any relevant professional development and/or designations an asset (ie. CCLP)
Strong negotiation experience with carriers and suppliers
Existing relationships with a pool of carriers who can serve Cedric Millar customers
Experience using Excel, MS Office applications (i.e. Word, PowerPoint)
Thrives in a busy environment with strong prioritization, organizational, and multi-tasking skills
Confidence in problem solving and finding amicable resolutions
Excellent verbal and written communication and listening skills
Desire to leverage technology to minimize routine work and enable process improvements
Willingness to work outside their role as needed to support business needs
Ability to potentially work overtime and/or flexible hours during peak seasons
Any relevant professional development and/or designations an asset (ie. CCLP)
Responsibilities
Coordinate the flow of inbound and outbound freight while staying abreast of daily priorities and weekly transportation targets.
Ensure carrier compliance with company policies and procedures
Analyze lane data, on-time performance, and costs to effectively negotiate rates with customers and third-party carriers to ensure profitability and customer satisfaction
Communicate with brokers, carriers and the customers to resolve any discrepancies
Direct and organize logistics activities such as obtaining shipment rates, negotiating with logistics service providers, tracking and expediting shipments, and solving any discrepancy of quality, quantity, and schedule.
Verify and troubleshoot any issues in shipping or customs documentation including, but not limited to, PODs, BOL and carrier confirmation.
Proactively communicate service risks to customers to provide proper resolution
Developing strong relationships with all relevant parties including frequent engagement of key stakeholders – both customers and carriers
Strong understanding of Cedric Millar service offerings to expand scope of business with current customers
Planning and collaboration with core carriers, pool points and warehouse providers
Continued sourcing of carriers and warehouse space to ensure Cedric Millar customer’s have access to capacity when needed
Cross training to support your fellow brokerage team members (vacation coverage, etc.)
