Chevron is accepting online applications for the position of Lead Financial Analyst located in St. John’s, Newfoundland through 2/9/2023 at 11:59 p.m. Canada Time.
Provide accounting, analytical and business process/workflow optimization for Chevron’s Atlantic Canada and Exploration assets. As this position requires daily interaction with peers and non-finance customers, strong teamwork, interpersonal and communication skills are required. Responsibilities will typically include analyzing and explaining financial results and coordinating all accounting for Chevron’s non-operated interests in Hibernia and Hebron.
Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:
Understands, analyzes, and explains the impacts to business processes with a focus on accounting policy, internal controls, and systems. Proactively identifies and executes on opportunities to enhance delivery of business insights, process efficiency and control effectiveness.
Recommend solutions to non-routine accounting, systems/applications and work process issues. Communicates with internal and external customers when appropriate.
Work closely with diverse stakeholders to ensure business, accounting and regulatory changes are understood and implemented.
Compile and analyze financial information and coordinate the submission of monthly forecasts
Provide support and oversight related to work performed by Shared Service Centre analysts
Review and approve monthly royalty filings as well as supporting royalty audits and disputes
Provide the Atlantic Canada asset team and Calgary based Exploration team with regular financial updates and help the teams understand key drivers of business performance
Provide ad hoc accounting policy and internal controls guidance for the Atlantic Canada and Exploration assets
Maintain positive business relationships with joint venture finance counterparts, and work to maintain and improve sharing of financial information
Manage Chevron’s participation in joint venture financial audits related to Chevron’s Atlantic Canada and Exploration assets
Support the annual business plan and joint venture budget review process
Required Qualifications
B.Comm. (Accounting or Finance major) required, completed professional accounting designation preferred
Experience working in the oil and gas industry and knowledge or experience of royalty reporting and the royalty regime in Newfoundland and Labrador would be considered an asset
Ability to understand complex issues quickly, analyze available data and apply techniques and/or tools to systematically break down problems into manageable components to drive to solutions.
Digital skills are a necessity – existing proficiency and ability/desire to expand working knowledge of applications such as Excel, SAP, Power BI, Power Pivot, etc.
Proficient in business process and digital design to support create value and streamline processes
Ability to present data in a variety of formats (pictorial, graphic, verbal) to communicate meaningful insights clearly and effectively and/or recommendations to a diverse audience
Capacity to organize and coordinate multiple projects with minimal assistance
Capable of building relationships by engaging with others through focusing on common goals, offering suggestions and meeting commitments. Able to take a collaborative approach to achieve results by developing shared goals, breaking down silos, and expanding networks.
Demonstrated aptitude to grow capabilities in yourself and others to generate new ideas, adapt and learn fast, simplify processes and/or leverage technology to increase productivity
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working in the oil and gas industry and knowledge or experience of royalty reporting and the royalty regime in Newfoundland and Labrador would be considered an asset
