At CIBC, we embrace your strengths and your ambitions, so you are empowered at work. Our team members have what they need to make a meaningful impact and are truly valued for who they are and what they contribute.
Are you an Indigenous post-secondary student or a recent graduate wanting to enter the banking sector? Do you want to provide banking services to people in your community?
We’re looking for you to join our team as an Underwriter!
As the Underwriter, you’ll be working in our department of Credit Adjudication, Lending Risk Management. Some of your daily tasks include reviewing, processing, and approving residential mortgage/real estate secured/unsecured applications received by branches and alternate distribution channels. Additionally, you will negotiate, approve, decline, and make recommendations for applications within established CIBC practices, as well as review, prepare, and make considered recommendations to the Senior Underwriter when residential mortgage applications are above authority limit. Using your analytical talent, you will collect information to use for documentation to support each credit application and manage high work volumes to meet short timelines while maintaining a high quality of work.
