What You’ll Be Doing

The Credit Control Specialist is accountable for performing a range of complex credit management functions for a variety of credit accounts applying experience and knowledge of basic accounting principles. Work with high-level general routines and detailed work procedures but required to apply considerable judgment and discretion when determining appropriate course of action. Responsible for the fulfillment, servicing and management of authorized credit process including ensuring loan documentation is completely and accurately maintained in accordance with credit facilities. Ensure productivity standards are achieved and Service Level Agreements are met or exceeded.

How You’ll Succeed

• Verify all draft credit agreements against the approved credit to ensure accuracy prior to delivery to the client. Ensure executed Credit Agreement is prepared against the approved credit and in accordance with the clients Articles of Incorporation and Signing Authorities. Prepare all required negotiable and non-negotiable security documentation in accordance with Client’s Articles of Incorporation
• Review all solicitor prepared negotiable and non-negotiable security including the Solicitors Letter of Opinion to ensure security is indicated as required within the approved credit and Credit Agreement. Verify all negotiable and non-negotiable security documents are returned and executed in accordance with client Signing authorities. Verify and validate negotiable and non-negotiable security documentation to credit agreement provided by the Credit Specialist to ensure data integrity. Ensure quality checks have been completed if applicable; ensure all credit adjudication approval conditions on the terms of the loan/negotiable and non-negotiable security requirements are complied with prior to advancing funds
• Prepare required debits/credit and program approved loans ensuring the terms and conditions outlined in the credit agreement are adhered to. Renew loans ensuring that terms and conditions outlined in the credit agreement are adhered to. Input negotiable and non negotiable registration particulars accurately in the appropriate systems to comply with policies and procedures.
• Receive instruction from Credit Specialist and take required action relating to negotiable and non negotiable security documents/registrations. This includes preparation of documents for scanning, registration, conducting and analyzing property searches. Analyze issues/problems to identify root causes and decide upon the most appropriate solution available from a variety of options to resolve discrepancies, taking into consideration the situational factors and existing procedures and policies to ensure client satisfaction.
• Report and maintain records of all credit irregularities within the NCR or Un-reportable Irregularity Log and escalate non-compliance issues to CS and the next level of management to advise of potential risk. Amend incorrect negotiable and non negotiable documentation and/or registrations within control of RLO. Maintain integrity of all security files in accordance with documented standards. Prioritize and organize workload to ensure deadlines are met and items are processed according to policies and procedures
• Assist in training new incumbents and/or temporary staff on procedures and guidelines to ensure transfer of knowledge and consistency in process. Cross train in other positions to assist/provide support to other team members/area(s) of equal value in peak times or on a temporary basis to meet or exceed Service Level Agreements
• Update and maintain productivity tracking tools. Identify and recommend changes to existing processes and procedures to improve client satisfaction, recording all exceptions that do not fit within the existing process. Maintain open lines of communication with assigned Credit Specialist
• Regular contact with internal CIBC employees, teams and departments (e.g. Risk Management, Credit Specialists) at peer and management level to provide and receive information and escalate issues as required. Regular contact with external Solicitors and Canadian Securities Registration System (CSRS) to obtain and clarify information related to loans

Who You Are

• You can demonstrate knowledge and experience in Credit Analysis and Credit Risk. Knowledge of loan/security documentation, compliance, audit and control requirements and procedures and the ability to ensure adherence to procedures and guidelines is required. Knowledge of internal CIBC systems and applications (e.g. COINS/COLT, LAS, Content Manager, ICAP/e-diary). Compliance with all CIBC regulatory training and ensure these programs and policies are applied consistently across the business. The incumbent is personally responsible for compliance with all such regulatory and governance programs. Operational Functions: Knowledge of major functional processes and associated operating requirements. Uses knowledge of organization’s functions to achieve goals, meet commitments. Credit Analysis and Verification: Knowledge of tools, techniques and practices for determining the credit-worthiness of an applicant. Applies relevant internal and external procedures and regulations.
