The IT Senior Group Manager manages multiple teams through other managers. In-depth understanding of how own sub-function contributes to achieving the objectives of the function. A good understanding of the industry, direct competitors’ products and services, is also necessary in order to contribute to the commercial objectives of the business. Requires thorough understanding of strategic direction of the function within the relevant part of the business, combined with a solid conceptual/practical grounding in both the function and/or area of expertise and related subject areas. Excellent communication skills required in order to negotiate internally, often at a senior level. Some external communication/negotiation may be necessary. Responsible for executing functional strategy in area managed. Determines approach to implementing functional strategy. Accountable for end results, budgeting, planning, policy formulation and contribution to future strategy of the area(s). Impact reflects size of team managed, strategic influence on the business and interaction with other functions or businesses. Full management responsibility for multiple teams, including management of people, budget and planning, to include duties such as performance evaluation, compensation, hiring, disciplinary actions and terminations and budget approval. May be doing involved or responsible for diverse (cross-discipline) activities. Typically, a direct report to a C16 role and function as an intergral member of the functional leadership team within a country/site location, job family, or line of business.

Provides evaluative judgment based on analysis of factual information in complicated, unique and dynamic situations; draws on diverse range of internal and external sources.
Impacts the technology sub function by strategic influence and by exercising control over resources, budget management and planning; accountable for end results.
Influences and negotiates with senior leaders (across functions); may communicate with external parties.
Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm’s reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.

15+ years of experience in multiple technology disciplines with extensive experience in business, functional and people management.

Financial Risk Technology (FRT) is part of Citi’s Institutional Clients Group (ICG) Markets Technology organization. FRT delivers technology and engineering solutions to support risk management across both the global risk organization as well as ICG markets.
Overview of the Role
FRT is looking for a technical and management lead for our team in downtown Toronto. The successful candidate will be responsible for building out and managing a development team in Toronto. This team will span both Enterprise Risk Tech as well as the XiP team. The candidate will have local management oversight of the whole Toronto team and will also be the line manager for one or more XiP or ERT development project. The successful candidate will have the ability to interact with and communicate effectively with senior members technology, risk management, as well as global markets. This role will report to the head of Financial Risk Technology.
Responsibilities
Local manager for the FRT downtown Toronto team
Functional line manager for one or more development teams in ERT or XiP
Hands on technical leader for downtown Toronto
Competencies
The ideal candidate would have experience building high performing financial services technology teams that either focus on front office problems or risk management problems.
Extremely technical with a long track record of delivering software solutions to complex problems
Demonstrated knowledge of software development at scale in a modern environment
Broad and deep knowledge of both global markets as well as risk management
Experience interviewing, hiring, managing, and leading teams
Strong leadership
Qualifications/Education:
Degree in a STEM discipline
Experience as a software developer
Experience as a software development manager
