The Opportunity
The Operations Department is comprised of three Branches: Administration, Parks and Forestry Operations, and Roads, Fleet and Technical Operations. Key responsibilities include the operation and maintenance of the City’s public works infrastructure and systems including roadways; rail, winter maintenance; parks and green spaces, including forestry; and maintenance of the corporation’s fleet of vehicles and equipment.
The Fleet Services Technician is responsible for repairing and maintaining a variety of City vehicles and equipment, including automobiles, small and large trucks, specialized equipment with attachments, and unlicensed landfill, road building and maintenance equipment such as gradalls, backhoes, loaders, graders so that City staff have functioning vehicles in order to their own jobs effectively.

Location: City of Barrie Operations Center, 165 Ferndale Drive North, Barrie
Hours: The normal hours of work are 40 hours per week, 3:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., in accordance with the Collective Agreement.
Wage: This position is within the CUPE Local 2380 Bargaining Unit with the following pay level and 2024 pay range:
