AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY:
Reporting to the Supervisor, Vehicle Maintenance, performs preventive maintenance services on all Transit owned vehicles and assists licensed Mechanics with minor vehicle maintenance and repairs where required.
Performs preventive maintenance and minor repairs on all Transit vehicles.
Servicing of air systems, hydraulic systems, transmissions, etc.
Maintains up-to-date knowledge of and abides by all Ministry of Transportation Motor Vehicle Inspection Station Guidelines.
Maintains up-to-date knowledge of equipment & procedures, reviews manuals, etc.
Operates pressure washer to clean engine, transmission, radiator and other related components.
Inspect service and maintain tires and wheels.
Maintains and adjusts fluid levels on Transit buses.
Prepares list of required repair parts for the Foreman.
Completes paperwork, e.g. individual time sheets, record of work performed, inspection sheets etc.
Assists the Transit Mechanic in vehicle maintenance and repairs of various systems.
Operates forklift as required to complete duties.
Performs other similar and related duties to this position, as assigned.

REQUIRED LICENCES & CERTIFICATIONS:
A valid Ontario automotive service technician 310S in good standing.
A current class CZ license in good standing, or the ability to upgrade an existing class G driver’s license to a class CZ license.
A current forklift operator’s certificate or the ability to obtain a forklift operator’s certificate.
OTHER REQUIRED SKILLS & ASSETS:
Experience with transit buses or highway coaches preferred.
Must own a full complement of hand tools.
Able to work shifts and variable hours.
Able to handle physical demands of the job.
Able to work outside and in all weather conditions.
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with an emphasis on customer service.
Strong time management and organizational skills.
Able to work independently and as part of a team in a fast paced environment.
Able to wear required personal protective equipment and use appropriate safety equipment to complete job tasks in a safe manner.
