We are currently recruiting for a talented and results-driven Business Analyst (BA) to join our Engineering and Public Works team to support the department’s service delivery improvements. Reporting to the Manager, Policy and Business Services, this position will lead the analysis of business processes and the development of process improvement initiatives across the department. This position will act as a lead analyst in supporting reviews and updates of budgets (operating, capital and utilities), data gathering and analysis, process and business improvements and reporting, along with modernization of technology approaches to systems.
Some examples of the exciting work this position will be working on include: transitions to increased online services and payments, conducting service reviews for administrative efficiencies that reduce costs while maintaining quality and service levels, utilizing and leveraging recent corporate technological and system improvements to automate previously manual processes. The Business Analyst will also review and enhance department policies, procedures and processes to improve departmental effectiveness and efficiency, along with mitigating risks. The successful incumbent will be the liaison between the business units and will work closely with internal stakeholders to ensure needs are being met, and identify efficiencies that can be achieved through the use of technology and best practices as it relates to business processes. This role will bring proven experience in gathering and analyzing data, collecting and creating business requirement documents and translating business requirements into technical specifications and configuration requirements that cross multiple functional areas.
The ideal candidate will have the following competencies:
The successful incumbent must possess excellent communication skills, written and verbal; have the ability to write business-appropriate correspondence and make presentations as appropriate; have the ability to use software programs for effective project management tracking and reporting. Additionally, they will have a collaborative approach in working with internal and external stakeholders that fosters and promotes teamwork.
The successful incumbent will have 5+ years of progressive experience in the field of project management/business analysis as well as possessing a Bachelor’s degree and/or applicable experience in the field of Information Technology, Engineering, Public Administration, Commerce or Business Administration, supplemented by courses in business analysis. A driver’s license for the Province of BC or equivalent is required.
Proficient use and understanding of software and systems such as AMANDA, Cognos and Maximo would be considered an asset.

A CUPE hourly rate of $45.68 – $53.97, an excellent benefits package and an earned day off program is being offered. This position is based in Coquitlam with some flexible, remote work options available.
