The City of Coquitlam has a new opportunity for a strategic leader to join our Corporate Services leadership team as a key member of the Information and Communications Technology division. IN this exciting opportunity you will support the city in continuing to deliver progressive enhancements to technological architecture across the organization and drive the digital planning process. As a member of the City’s leadership team, you will play a critical role in the design, development and implementation of corporation-wide business initiatives by leveraging our technology platform. The successful candidate for this position will be a forward thinker with an eye for continuous improvements while focusing on excellence in service delivery to internal and external stakeholders. The Digital Strategy Manager will have an opportunity to bring forward knowledge of industry trends and business requirements in shaping the City’s long term digital strategy roadmap. This includes the opportunity to develop best-in-class data architecture processes for technology systems including the use of: service oriented architectures, data centric design, cloud technologies, advanced analytics and mobile technologies. You will play key role in current and proposed plans for upcoming network infrastructure upgrades, financial system optimization, and digital strategy renewal to name a few. In addition you will be responsible for overseeing system security architecture to continue to protect the City’s IT infrastructure.
Candidates under consideration will have the following minimum qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s degree or post-graduate diploma in Computer Sciences, Business, or Information Technology supplemented by at least 3 years of related work experience is a requirement.
- A valid BC Driver’s license is required.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered, and public sector experience in this field is an asset.
Preferred candidates will have the following qualifications, knowledge, skills and abilities:
- Bachelors Degree in computer science
- CISSP Information Systems Security Architecture Professional and enterprise architecture certifications
- Proven experience as an enterprise architect to develop and implement system architecture that will meet business needs and a proven track record of driving technological innovation within an organization.
- Practical experience and knowledge in infrastructure and engineering design, system security measures, hardware and software management, network administration.
- Experience in implementing continuous improvements initiatives, by assessing the systems architecture currently in place and working with technical staff to recommend solutions to improve it.
- Sound knowledge of various operating systems and databases.
- Previous project management experience
- Experience with managing confidential requests.
- Strong problem-solving and documentation skills.
- Demonstrated ability to provide customer centric solutions in all aspects of service delivery.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to relay complex technical problems to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- The ability to build strong relationships and leverage interpersonal skills with peers in other fields of work.

The City offers a competitive salary and an excellent benefits package. This position is based in Coquitlam with some flexible, remote work options available. The City has a vaccination policy that is currently suspended. However, should the policy be reinstated, it will be a requirement for all current and future employees.
