The City of Coquitlam has an exciting opportunity for an auxiliary (on-call), part-time Human Resources Assistant to join our team. If you are a self-starter, detail-oriented, have a passion for people engagement, and thrive in a fast paced environment, we want to hear from you.
Teamwork is at the heart of our day to day work. In addition to working with the Employment and HR Advisory Services team, our division is collaborative and occasionally assists members of the broader team including Health and Safety, Organizational Training and Development, and Labour Relations. You will be the face of human resources to new applicants and employees. We are seeking someone who possesses strong interpersonal skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and a can-do attitude. The ability to maintain confidential information is critical. We are always striving for continuous improvements, and welcome your ideas for process efficiencies.
Our ideal candidate will have experience using Peoplesoft or a related HRIS, as well as familiarity with using an applicant tracking system. The successful incumbent will be currently enrolled in or hold an undergraduate degree in Business Administration, Commerce or Human Resource Management and have a minimum of 2 years of administrative experience, ideally focusing in HR. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered, and students who are nearing completion of a degree specializing in human resources are encouraged to apply. Prior experience in a municipal or unionized environment, and/or work towards a CPHR designation will be considered an asset. This is a temporary position where hours of work may fluctuate each week depending on volume of work and are not guaranteed. This is a great opportunity for an individual with a flexible schedule who is looking to gain experience over the longer term while balancing other personal commitments.

The City offers a competitive salary and an excellent benefits package. This position is based in Coquitlam with some flexible, remote work options available. The City has a vaccination policy that is currently suspended. However, should the policy be reinstated, it will be a requirement for all current and future employees.
