The City of Merritt has an exciting opportunity for an Accounting Clerk to join our Finance Team.
Our Finance team is savvy and ensures the highest level of quality and accuracy and completeness in the work that they do. Accounting Clerks are integral to our team’s success.
As an Accounting Clerk, you will enter data, prepare journal entries, complete accounts receivable invoicing and accounts payable and process residential and commercial utility invoices. You support the monthly revenue and expense reporting and maintain accounting files and records. You will set up vendors, match invoices to purchase orders or vouchers, perform data entry, process and record transactions, and reconcile bank statements with the general ledger.
This role is ideal for a person who values integrity and has a meticulous detail-oriented eye, with a flair for numbers and customer service. You will provide front line support to residents, contractors and others by answering inquiries by phone, email and in-person. In addition, you will provide support for projects and collaborate with the team to provide support for general office administration tasks and coverage for the front desk.
For new hires and those working in designated positions of trust, including those working directly with vulnerable persons, employment is conditional on a satisfactory police information check.
