Job Summary:
The incumbent provides human resources, employee and labour relations support functions for various programs, services and initiatives.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Consult with supervisors, staff and benefit carriers regarding human resources matters including but not limited to recruitment, labour relations, performance management, etc.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships and partnerships with various stakeholders.
Prepare documents and maintain confidential and accurate records, compile statistics and prepare reports.
Collect and analyze information and recommend course of action.
Oversee disability programs including facilitating return to work and accommodation.
Participates and/or provides expertise in local collective agreement bargaining.
Provide input into relevant programs, policies and procedures.
Act as Specialist, Human Resources as assigned.
Follow, so far as is reasonably practicable, established safety procedures and standards.
Other related duties.

Job Requirements:
Working Conditions:
Majority of the work is performed under normal office conditions.
Knowledge and Skills:
Degree in Human Resources or Business Administration with a major in Human Resources or Labour Relations
CPHR designation or in final stages of achieving CPHR designation.
3 years related experience in a computerized environment dealing with various employment contracts and 1 year on the job training.
Strong interpersonal, communication and resolution skills.
Ability to interpret and apply collective agreement language.
Knowledge of recruitment and selection practices, employee relations.
Knowledge of relevant legislation and collective agreements.
Claims management experience is an asset.
Ability to work independently in a fast paced environment with little supervision.
Examples of Required Equipment to Operate:
General office equipment including computer skills to operate software programs related to word processing, spreadsheet, electronic mail, etc.

Note: The City requires that all new hires be fully vaccinated from Covid-19 prior to their start date. Accommodations may be requested by individuals who cannot be vaccinated based on medical, religious or other protected grounds.
New hires will be considered to be fully vaccinated 14 days after they have received both doses of a vaccine approved by Health Canada that requires two doses to complete the vaccination series.
