DUTIES:
Reporting to Executive Director of Employment & Social Services or designate, ensures the efficient and effective delivery of Ontario Works, inclusive of employment and financial assistance and any related discretionary programs, in accordance with legislation, approved policies and procedures, directives, consistent with Corporate and unit values. Responsible for the effective delivery of Ontario Works including financial and employment assistance and related programs, such as, eligibility review, enhanced verification process; Develop and maintain effective relationships with the community partners in service delivery; Responsible for quality assurance; Responsible for budget development and monitoring; Responsible for effective employee relations within area of assigned responsibility; Recommends hiring, promotion and discipline of designated area positions; Responsible for training, development and evaluation of staff; Responsible for the access to and security of confidential information, in any form; Responsible for onsite facility management; Prepares complex, analytical reports; Participate in emergency response and preparations as required. Occupational Health & Safety duties as outlined in the Corporate Health and Safety program; Will perform other related duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must have a Master’s degree in Social Sciences, Social Work, Public or Business Administration or Ontario Ministry of Education equivalency combined with a minimum of (2) two years progressively responsible work experience in a human services environment;
OR Must have a University degree in Social Sciences, Social Work, Public or Business Administration or Ontario Ministry of Education equivalency combined with a minimum of (4) four years progressively responsible work experience in a human services environment;
OR Must have a Community College Diploma in Social Sciences, Social Work, Public or Business Administration or Ontario Ministry of Education equivalency combined with a minimum of (6) six years progressively responsible work experience in a human services environment;
OR Must have an Ontario Secondary School Diploma plus (1) one year of post secondary courses in Social Sciences, Social Work, Public or Business Administration from a University or Community College or Ontario Ministry of Education equivalencies with over (10) ten years progressively responsible work experience in a human services environment.
Must have experience at a supervisory or management level;
Must have knowledge of applicable legislation, policies, procedures;
Must have proven technical, analytical, organizational, interpersonal and communication skills;
Municipal experience would be considered an asset;
Should have knowledge of the Occupational Health & Safety Act, its requirements and knowledge of the hazards associated with the work;
Will be required to complete and remain current as per the requirements of the Corporation’s Management Certificate Program;
Should have knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, its regulations and knowledge of the hazards associated with the work.
