The primary function of our metal fabricating department is to cut the steel parts required for production jobs. Parts are cut to the detail drawings that are provided per job.
You will bring a High School Diploma and Welding shop experience. CAD knowledge is also required.
This role is permanent and will work on a Monday to Thursday compressed work week schedule.
The major skills required are being able to read and understand detail drawings, blue print reading, understand dimension styles, and understand tolerance (written and unwritten).
What would you be doing?

Able to read and understand shop paperwork and apply it to the specific work being performed

Understand set-up and safe operations of Brake, Shear, Ironworker, Band Saw, Drill Presses, Turning Lathes, Horizontal Mill, and other machines as required

Understand machine capacities
-
Understand proper machine adjustments and maintenance

Tape Measure

Able to read 1/8” , 1/16”, and 1/32” gradations.

Able to convert feet/inches.

Understand conversion of inches/decimals (using conversion chart).
Materials
-
Understand dimensioning and sizing of common structural steel sizes.

Know difference between hot and cold rolled.

Be aware of substitution options.
Material Utilization

Keep drop material picked up and in it’s proper location.

Lay out raw materials for minimal drop.
-
Help maintain organized steel storage for better visibility of what is in stock.
Cutting Torch and Plasma Cutter

Understand proper cutting technique.
-
Know proper regulator or machine settings.
-
Use proper tip maintenance.
Overhead Cranes
-
Know and follow safe operating and lifting procedures.

Be aware of load limits.

Be aware of proper maintenance.
