Job Summary
The Safety Data and Information and Technology, Senior Specialist is responsible for maintaining and optimizing the Information and Technology (I&T) systems related to safety information. Moreover, the position acts as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for data specific to incidents, injuries, and safety observations and ensures compliance with applicable regulatory requirements. Additionally, the role ensures proper distribution and consumption of safety data insights.
Main Responsibilities
Safety Reporting and Data Management
· Handle safety dashboards, identify and implement improvements to current dashboards (Power BI)
· Prepare safety Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
· Generate internal reports (e.g., quarterly safety reports, quarterly material for Board of Directors presentations, Employee Family Assistance Program (EFAP) incident report)
· Submit external regulatory reports and annual data, including the Transport Canada (TC) report, sustainability report, accident costs for insurance report
· Act as support for safety data queries
System Maintenance, Implementation and Optimization
· Improve the current Safety Engagement System and support development and implementation of new systems
· Identify opportunities, develop and implement process automation using new applications (e.g., Power App, Power Automate)
· Support the transition from Systems, Applications and Products (SAP) to Enablon for incident management
· Act as SME for Safety systems and engage with operations to support their usage and adoption
· Act as the business point of contact with the I&T support team
Working Conditions
The role has standard working conditions in an office environment with a regular workweek from Monday to Friday. The role requires minimal travel (up to 5%) to participate in safety audits and workshops.
Requirements
Experience
Information Systems
· Between 2 to 5 years of experience in information systems
· Experience within the transportation or railroad industry*

Education/Certification/Designation
· College Diploma in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Business (I&T oriented), Big Data Analytics or a related field of study
· Certificate in Data Science or Computer Science
· Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Business (I&T oriented), Big Data Analytics or a related field of study*

· Knowledge of Microsoft Office with an emphasis on Access and Visual Basic for Application (VBA)*
· Fluently bilingual both written and verbal (English, French)*
