Program Coordinator, Learning Academy
Full-Time Contract, Toronto, ON (hybrid)
CNIB invites you to build a career as unique as you! We are currently searching for a Program Coordinator, Learning Academy! Reporting to the Program Lead, Learning Academy, the Program Coordinator, Learning Academy functions as a team member in the planning, development, facilitation and evaluation of Learning Academy programming.
Your impact at CNIB
Assists in the planning and implementation of Learning Academy programs.
Facilitates virtual youth pre-vocational program sessions including Primary Explorers (grades 5 & 6), Junior Explorers (grades 7 & 8) and Young Achievers (grades 9 &10) utilizing existing curricula.
Lives and works on location for 2 weeks at a university/college campus (Toronto, ON) and at CNIB Lake Joe (MacTier, ON) as part of Learning Academy SCORE Scholars Program (July 16 -29 in 2023).
Provides administrative support to the Program Lead and Learning Academy program.
Coordinates applications, conducts interviews of prospective participants.
Assists in the recruitment and onboarding of volunteers and summer students.
Ensures participants have all necessary program and resource materials in preferred format.
Researches and arranges activities with third party organizations, recreational groups and guest speakers for virtual and in-person programs.
Assists with file management, documentation, and financial tracking in Concur, CenterSuite, and Salesforce.
Who you are.
Demonstrated experience working with children and youth with vision loss an asset.
High level written and verbal communication skills, including presentation delivery, proposal and report writing.
Ability to deliver established Learning Academy programs to children and youth ages 10-15.
Ability to collaboratively generate new program content based on personal experience and research.
Ability to network, develop, encourage and promote effective partnerships and community relations that support CNIB’s mission with a variety of stakeholders.
Excellent analytical, problem definition and problem-solving skills.
Proven time management, planning, coordinating and organization skills.
Ability to multi-task, manage multiple projects with strong attention to detail.
Professional attitude, results oriented, strategic, and flexible.
Knowledge of not-for-profit community resources an asset.
Personal or professional experience working with assistive technology and/or accessible environments is considered an asset.
Ability to travel independently (e.g., public transit, car, taxi, Uber, rental, etc.)
Mature individual with the ability to work independently and as part of the Learning Academy team.
Effectively demonstrates understanding and championing of diversity and accessibility issues.
Personal or professional experience relating to blindness and vision loss is considered an asset.
We want to hear from you if you have:
1-3 years’ experience in program facilitation in the educational or non-profit sectors and experience in providing administrative support.
Certificate or diploma in a related field or equivalent experience. Related Fields of Study include career counseling, social services, education, child and youth studies, disability studies, administration, communications, technology.
A combination of education and experience will be considered.
Ability to support the planning and coordination of travel for the program.
Ability to work in a changing and busy environment.
Knowledge and experience in monitoring a budget.
Current Police Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening is required.
Proficient in MS Office 365: Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
Proficient in using virtual platforms like Microsoft Teams and Zoom.
Proficient with Client Record Management Systems; particularly Salesforce.
Aptitude for adapting to unfamiliar computer programs and data management software.
Personal or professional experience relating to blindness and sight loss is considered an asset.
Personal or professional experience working with assistive technology and/or accessible environments is considered an asset.
Work Environment
Eligible to work on location for 2 weeks at a university/college campus (Toronto, ON) and at CNIB Lake Joe (MacTier, ON) as part of Learning Academy SCORE Scholars Program (July 16 -29 in 2023).
Hybrid work environment – in-person and virtual.
Willingness to work flexible hours.
Occasional travel within the region.
