PRIMARY PURPOSE
Responsible for providing technical, analytical and coordination support services related to operating budget requirements, current year expenditure projections, and actual financial results.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Works with managers to understand their business needs and to support them in utilizing financial information to make prudent business decisions.
Participates in special projects as assigned by the Manager, and provides technical resources to the Director, Finance, as required.
Provides technical, analytical, and coordinating resources for the development and reporting of the annual operating budget and quarterly expenditure forecasts.
Participates in the design, development, and maintenance of the budget/forecast information system.
Provides information and direction to managers and departmental budget coordinators regarding budget preparation, assumptions, and deadlines; provides assistance to budget preparation, planning, and annual budget instructions.
Researches and writes first drafts of Annual Management and Budget reports. Performs necessary analysis, and prepares related charts, graphs, and tables.
Prepares various reports, analysis, and presentation materials.
Ensures that the quarterly Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) are consistent with expenditure forecasts and verifies financial information in the development of KPI budget projections.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
The requirements for this job are typically acquired through a university degree in business administration, plus achievement of a recognized Accounting designation, and three (3) years of progressively responsible financial analysis and complex accounting procedures within in a large unionized environment, performing detailed financial and economic analyses and budget preparation and applying technical knowledge to business issues.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Solid knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and procedures
Solid knowledge of financial systems
Strong analytical skills to perform complex financial and economic analyses
Solid interpersonal skills to discuss and explain financial matters to business leaders
Solid time management and organizational skills to ensure critical financial deadlines are met
Proficiency on all office software, including solid Excel skills, word processing and web-based systems
Solid knowledge of Extracting, Transforming and Loading (ETL) within Power BI or Access and experience with special projects involving process implementations, new systems, developing new management reporting will be considered an asset.
The incumbent will be expected to provide recommendations in the design, development, maintenance, and improvements of the financial systems for budget, forecast, and actuals.
Recruitment Process: An applicant will be required to demonstrate their suitability for this position by meeting the minimum level of qualifications and experience in order to be invited into the selection process. A standard interview format will be used including general, scenario and behavioural descriptive interview questions.
37.5 hours per week.
This position is full time temporary for 12 months.

This position offers the flexibility of working both on-site and remotely within B.C.
Salary: $71,327 – $89,159 per annum. (Actual salary offered will be commensurate with education, experience and internal parity)
