Clinical Instructor(s) – Health Care Assistant Program (Smithers)
Job description and duties
Coast Mountain College (CMTN) invites applications for Clinical/Lab Instructor(s) in the Health Care Assistant program in Smithers as outlined below. Salary will be in accordance with the BCGEU Instructor Scale.
Duties: Instructors are responsible for contributing to the academic success of students by supervising and teaching a group of students in a clinical/lab setting. This will include guiding and mentoring students through their clinical placements, modelling professional skills and work-related behaviour along with other functions related to instructing the following courses:

Qualifications
Current registration with British Columbia’s College of Nurses & Midwives (BCCNM) along with demonstrated ability to teach adult learners (i.e. completion of Provincial Instructors Diploma or equivalent education or previous teaching experience with satisfactory references or positive performance evaluations and student course evaluations).
Required experience includes a minimum of 2 years of full-time nursing experience with relevant knowledge of the Canadian health care system, the roles and responsibilities of healthcare team members and current policies and procedures within residential community, acute care, and community care settings. Required nursing work experience includes experience in working with older adults with complex health needs; and experience or orientation in home support, multi-level/complex care and acute care. Clinical instructors must also meet the clinical practice requirements: current CPR certification, up to date immunizations. Preference will be given to candidates who have experience working with the local community placements.
The successful candidate will be adaptable, flexible and comfortable with change and technology, and have excellent organizational, interpersonal and collaborative skills. We are looking for candidates who demonstrate a commitment to excellence in teaching and motivating learners of all ages, who has knowledge of best practices in equity, diversity, and inclusion, and has the ability to function effectively across cultures, particularly with Indigenous communities.
