The Ontario Physicians and Surgeons Discipline Tribunal is seeking a skilled administrative professional to support multiple aspects of its work. The Adjudication Support Coordinator is a critical part of the small team in the Tribunal Office, bringing excellent editing and organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to work under pressure. The OPSDT hears and decides allegations of professional misconduct against physicians and surgeons. Tribunal Office staff also support the discipline work of other Ontario health colleges as part of the Health Professions Discipline Tribunal Pilot.
The Adjudication Support Coordinator, among other duties, coordinates the entire process for preparation and release of reasons and orders. This includes preparing standard form orders, tracking outstanding reasons and orders for compliance with timelines, formatting drafts, checking quotations and citations, correcting typographical errors, obtaining approval from panel members and releasing reasons and managing orders and exhibits to the parties, complainants and the public. You will use your judgment to make tactful editing suggestions that promote plain language, readability and compliance with OPSDT style conventions.
This role is also responsible for monitoring the OPSDT’s email inbox and phone line and responding or directing inquiries to the appropriate person. OPSDT cases are often high-profile and you will address public comments and inquiries of various kinds. You will receive, distribute and store materials filed at the hearings by the parties and mark exhibits and prepare shell documents for completion. You will ensure electronic systems are updated following hearings. You will sometimes provide support and back up for team members during electronic or in-person hearings .
