About the Role:
The Student Links Initiative provides opportunities for secondary school students who have an intellectual disability to gain new experiences and to explore new possibilities for themselves. It is intended to enhance the capacity of students with intellectual disabilities to make valued contributions to their community, in accordance with their individual gifts. Students are provided with an opportunity to meet and be matched with a mentor who can connect them to information and opportunities in their areas of interest.
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Director, Student Links is a member of the senior management team and is essentially responsible to ensure the successful delivery of the Student Links Initiative within Community Living Ontario.
Primary responsibilities and goals
· Develop and implement strategies and mechanisms to advance the Student Links Initiative.
· Work with Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services, the funder of the program to establish and meet the Service Description deliverables and budget.
· Oversee and participate in the development of mentoring procedures and training approaches in concert with the team.
· Oversee the engagement of relevant mentors to fulfill identified mentoring requirements.
· Evaluate the geographical area in which to provide mentoring support and make changes to that area as needed.
· Oversee the ongoing development of the Student Links Initiative, collect and analyze relevant data and produce reports.
· Ensure the information of student IEP processes and student transition plans in concert with educators, families, and students.
· Leads and is responsible for all evaluations processes within the Student Links Initiative.
· Ensures collaborative work within the Student Links Initiative and is responsible for the outcomes of the provincial team, including all staff participating in team meetings and training.
Human Resources
· Coordinate and facilitate team meetings.
· Responsible for the hiring of staff in the Student Links Initiative
Operational Planning and Financial Management
· Provide regular feedback to the CEO through statistical reports, regular supervisory sessions and reporting on the status of the annual plans.
· Develop a professional development plan in consultation with the CEO. Attend Management Forums and other training and development events as assigned by the CEO.
· Work with the management team to establish annual plans and ensure these approved plans are carried out.
Data management
· Identify relevant and appropriate data and information sources.
· Evaluate the integrity and comparability of data and identify gaps in data sources.
· Obtain and interpret information regarding risks and benefits to the organization and to the community.
Risk management
· Obtain and interpret information regarding risks and benefits to the organization and people supported through funded projects.
· Be aware of and report on any concerns or issues which could be put Community Living Ontario at risk.
