The Faculty of Arts, Department of Social Science invites applications for Sessional Instructors for the following course, for the Fall 2023 semester:
ENG 399 Classics of Children’s Literature in English MWF 10:00-10:50 AM
Where the course schedule has been set, Sessional Instructors must be able to accommodate the day and time noted for the respective course.
Please note, this opportunity is available to begin January 8, 2024.
Responsibilities
Reporting to the Chair of the Department of Literature and Language, the Sessional Instructor’s responsibilities include:
- Prepare and deliver weekly instructional lectures, assignments, and examinations relevant to the course taught.
- Grade assignments and exams.
- Provide constructive feedback to students, including effective individualized strategies to support student success.
- Maintain regular office hours.
- Work collegially as a team member with Department and Faculty leadership, Lab Instructors, Colleagues, and other stakeholders.
Qualifications
- A PhD or MA (completed or with an imminent defense date), in English, Communications, Journalism; or a PhD or MA in a relative discipline with a research focus on English.
- University-level teaching effectiveness as demonstrated through student evaluations (or a stated desire to attain such effectiveness).
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
- Demonstrated an empathetic approach to the instructional needs and concerns of students.
- Experience using a learning management system, such as Moodle, and familiarity with educational technologies, with an aptitude to learn other software as required.
