SCOPE OF POSITION
ConeTec is an international full-service geo-environmental and geotechnical site characterization contractor. We offer clients superior project management and site investigation services across the globe, with a large presence in the Americas and Australia.
Our in-house Technology Engineering and Development teams design and build specialized geotechnical equipment and data processing software. The Co-op student will play a key role in the development of these instruments and software.
ROLES, RESPONSIBILITIES & EXPECTATIONS
Technical
Work closely with the development team
Help utilize statistical and machine learning techniques to interpret ConeTec’s data
Help implement machine learning models into ConeTec’s data processing software
Organize and upload data to ConeTec’s database
Work to upgrade their skills on an ongoing basis
Contribute to and promote a respectful work environment and participate in effective communication
Effective collaboration with others inside and outside the department
Health & Safety
Identify with and respect ConeTec’s safety culture, first and foremost.
Ensure proper preparation and knowledge of all necessary safe operating procedures before beginning any job.
Immediately report any safety-related incidents, infractions, or near misses to the Manager and the HSE Officer.
Always know and follow the incident reporting protocol.
SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Education Requirements
Currently enrolled in a public post-secondary institution in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or another quantitative discipline.
Experience Requirements
Understanding of machine learning concepts and theory
Experience with statistical analysis and machine learning modelling tools such as Python, R, MATLAB
Experience with SQL and a deep learning framework such as Keras would be a plus
Basic knowledge of JavaScript/typescript/C# would be an asset (If you have any side projects in JavaScript/typescript/C#/python, do share the git repo)
Soft skill requirements:
Must possess strong work ethic and represent the company in a professional manner.
Detail oriented and holds themselves to a high standard of quality
Must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
Must be responsible and work well independently or in a team setting with minimal supervision.
Must enjoy performing a wide variety of duties and be able to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
