Confidential Asset based Transportation and Logistics company specializing in LTL & TL across Canada and to parts of the USA has an exciting opportunity at our brand new Montreal office for a Director of Operations. We also have offices in Toronto and Vancouver.
The ideal candidate is a high-energy leader with the ability to maange and direct a diverse workforce in the transportation services for multiple clients.
This role is responsible for overseeing operations with a focus on safety, compliance and growing the business. This is a hands-on role.
Responsibilities:
- Manage day-to-day operations such as pick ups, deliveries & warehousing
- Work with functional leaders within the company to ensure compliance to company policies and procedures
- Manage, train, and develop Operations staff in hiring, training, planning, assigning and directing work
- Ensure that safety is always a strong part of the culture and environment
- Develop positive relationships with key clients and vendors
- Liaise with the Safety team to ensure safety standards are adhered to and reinforced by the Operations team
Requirements:
- Post-secondary education with an emphasis on Business or Management highly preferred but not mandatory
- 10-15 years transportation/logistics operations and management experience
- Ability to focus on the “big picture” of a company’s goals
- Excellent ability to communicate and negotiate effectively with a team, clients, and internal managers
- Strong ability to demonstrate analysis and problem solving skills
Compensation:
A very competitive compensation package including benefits is offered. Salary will commensurate with experience. For the right candidate, we are willing to match or offer a higher salary.
