Location: Based in Vanderhoof, Serving Northern Region as needed.
Hours of Work: 37.5 hrs/wk: Client services will be provided on a flexible basis which may include evening & weekends.

Salary: Youth Justice Counsellor:$41.78 – $51.14/hour as per CSSEA & CSSBA Collective Agreement (Grid Level 16P)
Job Summary
Youth Justice Counsellor: Assesses, treats, and counsels youth who have been sentenced under the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA) and who are conditionally released to the areas of Vanderhoof, Fraser Lake, Fort St. James, Burns Lake, and within the Northern Region as needed. Service provision includes direct treatment intervention through individual, group and family counselling sessions using a variety of therapeutic counseling techniques. Indirect service includes consultation with Youth Probation Officers, Youth Forensic Psychiatric Services, schools, social workers, caregivers, and collateral contacts.
Qualifications & Experience
A Master’s degree preferred or Bachelor degree considered in Human/Social Services related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience
At least 2 years recent related experience
Must be sensitive to and respectful of cultural differences, differences in socio-economic status and lifestyle diversity. Must be non-judgmental
Knowledge of relevant socio-historical events relevant to Indigenous culture
Well-developed interpersonal, counselling, oral and written communication skills
Intermediate Computer Skills (moderate understanding of operating systems, word processing, graphics, spreadsheets, databases)
Required
Valid class 5 driver’s license & satisfactory drivers abstract
Criminal Record Check clearance
COVID19 Fully Vaccinated (2 shots) required
