POSITION SUMMARY

The Senior Human Resources Generalist is a key contact and culture promoter for employees and a business partner to managers at all levels of the organization. This position is responsible for meeting, advising and strategizing with company leaders; problem solving; maintaining employee engagement, equitable compensation programs, legal practices, policies and procedures; and managing US and Canadian benefits and rewards programs. This position will also participate in employee growth and training, may assist in recruiting and hiring and work on operational systems and policies.

The Senior HR Generalist works closely with all departments and levels of employees and is part of the HR team (including recruiting and training). The position requires strong HR experience that can translate across US and Canadian policies and laws, exceptional communication and organizational skills, business acumen and a strong focus on creating an excellent work environment.

WHAT DOES OUR SENIOR HR GENERALIST DO?

• Partner with company leaders as a people and policy expert, including mentoring on communication and people practices, advising on performance improvement and engagement, workforce planning and changes and assessing department health.
• Support employees in all areas of HR – including policies, procedures, benefits, problem resolution, records and information.
• Administer benefits and leave programs, HRIS, reporting and surveys. Ensure accurate and timely updates on programs, enrollment, documentation and employee information.

• Assist with research, projects and updates of compensation program.

WHAT ARE THE QUALIFICATIONS I NEED TO HAVE?

• Five or more years as a HR generalist including partnership with leaders, program/policy development and benefits administration.

• Degree, certification, designation or equivalent experience in modern Human Resources with focus on people and culture.
• Knowledge, skills and abilities:
• Comprehensive knowledge of employment laws, federal and provincial.
• Business partnership and advising, employee relations and building culture.
• Working understanding of equity, engagement, compensation practices and payroll and training.

• Proficient to advanced skills in MS Office, HRIS, analytics, prioritizing and people skills (relationship building, conflict resolution, collaboration, mentoring).
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to adapt to change in a fast-paced environment while keeping organized and self-directed on regular tasks and communication.

WHAT QUALIFICATIONS MIGHT HELP SET ME APART FROM OTHER APPLICANTS?

• Experience changing/building out HRIS systems and HR programs.

• Work in technology or Managed Service space.

WHAT IS THE WORK ENVIRONMENT LIKE?

• Normal office working conditions. Work requires regular sitting/standing at a desk, working with a computer. This position requires standing, walking, sitting, using hands, seeing, reaching, talking, writing, and hearing; it may require occasionally carrying or lifting equipment if working on-site.
• Position requires contact with others – in meetings, by phone or by email. Interactions focus on problem solving, needs analysis, and data collection. Interactions are initiated in person or electronically.
