Working Conditions
Hours of work are based on a 35-hour work week and includes working the following schedule to meet programming requirements:
Overtime may be required at the direction of the supervisor if an event occurs outside of core hours. Work is subject to regular deadlines and constant interruptions and is carried out in a public office environment, child care centres and in other community locations suitable for the delivery of services.
Professional Learning Facilitators are required to work shifts in the Early Learning Hub on their own. Travel is required.
Outside of office work conditions can involve exposure to unfavourable road, traffic, and extreme weather conditions.
Due to the nature of the Early Learning and Childcare department’s work in supporting outside agencies, every effort will be made to have the facilitator’s unplanned absences covered by qualified co-workers. If coverage is not available a manager may be designated to ensure continuity of service.

Shortfalls in operational projections could negatively impact programming. Failure to ensure proper services could lead to lack of confidence in the program form the early years community. Failure to rectify issues of community needs could lead to loss of retention of educators within the community.
