The Cowichan Valley Regional District is now accepting applications for a casual Development Administrative Assistant opportunity in the Development Services Division within the Land Use Services Department. Reporting to the Manager, Development Services, the Development Administrative Assistant is primarily responsible for providing specialized legal administrative support to the Development Services Division and Land Use Services Department.

Minimum of a two (2) year certificate or diploma in a legal administrative assistant program from a recognized post secondary educational institution. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.

Four years of recent, related experience such as in a land titles office, real estate office, law office, or local government planning office.

Experience working in BC local government is preferred.

Class 5 BC Driver’s License

This casual opportunity has no guaranteed hours of work. Due to the nature of the work the work schedule will be coordinated to meet the operational needs of the division and may include shifts in blocks of time for planned absences or shifts on short-notice for unplanned absences. Successful candidates must be available to work a flexible variety of shifts, primarily days, but may include evenings and weekends.
This position is unionized (CUPE Local 358) with a starting wage of $33.53 per hour, plus an additional 14.5% pay in lieu of vacation, benefits and statutory holidays.
