Our Halifax office is seeking a Financial Analyst to join our accounting department. Working as part of a collaborative team, you will:
Participate in the month end process including bank reconciliations, other general ledger account reconciliations, monthly journal entries and financial analysis;
Provide back up to the Senior Accountant (Trust & Treasury) with daily trust transactions, as required;
Assist in the preparation of the month end and ad hoc financial reports;
Participate in the annual budgeting process;
Review complex accounts payable transactions and cash receipts for accuracy. Provide support as needed;
Assist in the monthly trust function processes including recording interest income, investment fees, etc.;
Review and process employee and partner expenses;
Review and prepare reconciliations of all corporate credit cards on a monthly basis;
Respond to enquiries from lawyers, staff and vendors in a timely manner;
Participate in cross-training to provide back up for other team members as operationally required;
Complete other related duties as assigned.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum of three years’ experience in a comparable accounting role. Previous experience in a professional services firm considered an asset.
Undergraduate university degree or community college diploma in Accounting, Finance or Business.
Strong competency in the usage of MS Office, especially Excel, Adobe Acrobat Standard and accounting software programs.
Strong verbal and written communication skills with a demonstrated ability to provide superior customer service.
Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail.
Accurate and efficient data entry and keyboarding skills.
Self-starter with the ability to work independently in a dynamic environment.
Flexible, reliable and works well in a team environment.
Strong organizational and personal skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines.
