Job Description

We are looking for a dynamic Manager to join CPP Investments’ Public Affairs and Communications (PAC) team for an 18-month contract.

This role is ideal for an ambitious writer who wants to grow their experience working for a leading global financial institution, or an investment professional who is passionate about writing and wants to focus their career on the communications side of the industry. Your solid understanding of the capital markets and global investing landscape helps you turn sophisticated ideas and concepts into informative and impactful content accessible to a variety of audiences.

Reporting to the Managing Director, Strategic Communications, this position is responsible for providing research and writing support for the development of the Fund’s thought leadership. This candidate would be directly involved in production and publication of thought leadership content in a variety of mediums (white papers, speeches, presentations, etc.) for our website, conferences, and industry events, internal employee channels.

The successful candidate will be a self-starter with excellent writing skills, attention to detail, demonstrable business literacy and an ability to quickly grasp complexity.

Activities Include

• Contribute to content development relating to CEO, CIO and CSO initiatives by researching and drafting briefing notes and backgrounders.
• Conceptualize, research, write, edit, and oversee the publication of error-free financial/investment management editorial and other ad-hoc communications (e.g., video scripts, social posts, presentation materials, social media content, etc.) for internal and external audiences.
• Manage multiple content/editorial projects in various stages of development simultaneously.
• Create and ideate on high quality presentations for use at internal and external meetings.
• Coordinate logistics for interviews with high-level executives and external organizations.
• Manage logistics for virtual events, including preparing and sending briefing packages to attendees, developing presentations, agendas, and meeting materials.
• Professional handling of incoming and outgoing correspondence and other confidential material on behalf of senior executives.
• Handle confidential matters relating to the daily activities of producing thought leadership material, working with both external actors and internal colleagues.

Carry out other duties as assigned relating to the ongoing activities of the Public Affairs and Communications department.

Qualifications

If you possess the following, we’d like to hear from you:

• BA, BS and/or MA, MS in communications, journalism, business, or a related field.
• Experience in asset management, investment commentary, or financial writing with a portfolio of editorial content that exemplifies superb writing skills and the ability to structure and execute writing projects intended for variety of audiences, including at the CEO-level.
• The ability to take complex and sophisticated financial concepts and distill and synthesize them into clear and compelling content that is easy for audiences to understand and action.
• Ability to operate in a fast-paced environment and develop and pitch exciting ideas on a consistent basis
• Exceptional writing and communication skills with a keen editorial eye for detail and a strong background in fact-checking.
• Intellectual curiosity and a good knowledge of capital markets and/or institutional investing.
• Digitally savvy with a good understanding of digital tools and channels, including social media, search, and content marketing.
• Experience working with cross-functional teams and vendors (e.g., Portfolio Management, Media Relations, Legal, creative services, and investment professionals).
• Excellent interpersonal skills, proficiency at prioritization, proven experience with simultaneously managing multiple tasks, and the ability to operate under scheduled deadlines.
