Operation Supervisor
As an Operation Supervisor, you are responsible for organizing and directing the activities of production employees, including overtime, under the guidance of the Manager, Operations.

Your Challenge:
Liaise regularly with appropriate functional groups to ensure compliance with established cost and schedules.
Direct and listen to employees in a manner that will promote good employee relations and produce a well-motivated and productive workforce.
Conduct regular communication and safety meetings within departments. Thorough knowledge and understanding of OHSA.
Promote staff development and complete yearly performance appraisals.
Ensure plant activities are carried out in a safe, orderly manner.
Recommend improvements to methods, equipment, fixtures, tooling, etc, and encourage others to do so.
Provide input to the Manager for the preparation of departmental budgets.
Monitor all hours worked, track attendance and balance overtime of direct reports.
Ensure all trade qualifications are up-to-date and records maintained.
Take every reasonable precaution to protect the health and safety of direct reports including the:
Establishment of safe work procedures.
o Education of staff and the orientation of new workers.
o Appointment of competent supervision.
o Performance of frequent workplace inspections.
o Immediate reporting of accidents and incidents and participation in their investigations.
o Initiation of action required to correct substandard conditions.
Functional areas reporting to this position are:
Production employees.
What You Bring:
Understanding and experienced with computerized ERP systems.
Ability to read drawings and understanding of manufacturing processes.
Minimum 5 years related experience in a production environment.
Exposure to ISO 9001.
A sound knowledge of occupational health and safety, plus a willingness to achieve “competence” as a supervisor as per the Ontario OHSA.
Must have experience in LEAN Manufacturing environments and willing to participate in LEAN training and mentorship.
Demonstrated experience in process improvements/projects and a passion for disciplined/practical problem-solving skills.
Must be able to read and interpret electrical, electronic, and complex industrial hydraulic and pneumatic schematics.
A strong technical background in both hydraulics, mechanical assembly, electrical electronic controls plus hands on experience in the operation of these types of equipment highly desired.
Previous exposure and comprehension of industrial spray priming/painting using various types of paint, focusing on military hardware would be preferred.
Previous experience in fabrication/fitting or assembly of complex, high precision machined components.
Minimum Education Requirements:
College diploma/degree or equivalent.
