THE ROLE AND IMPACT:

The Sr. Director, Information Systems and Technology is responsible for the effective planning, organization, and operation of information technology (IT) and information systems (IS) services, support across the Cystic Fibrosis Canada. This individual oversees IT and IS project coordination, resource management, and supervision of staff, as well as communication with the executive team, department leaders, and end users. This role also ensures the effective deployment of cyber security programs.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND OPPORTUNITIES FOR GROWTH:

The primary job duties and responsibilities are outlined below.

Information Systems

• Partnering with stakeholders across CF Canada to continually assess and improve internal processes and champion opportunities for enhancing the delivery of information and service.
• Further the design and implementation of digital technology strategies, ensuring alignment of key project activities and participants.
• Ensure interoperability of systems and data flows and the efficacy of system infrastructure.
• Advise on procurement of external digital technology and information management services, sourcing high quality vendors to deliver timely and high-quality results.
• Lead system selection and implementation projects, collaborating with various departments to ensure successful adoption of technology solutions that meet business needs.

Information Technology

• Develop and implement IT strategies that enhance enterprise applications and drive IT service excellence throughout the organization.
• Manage the IT team, ensuring daily IT service and support operations of infrastructure and applications, ensuring IT compliance and risks mitigation, managing projects and supporting roll-out of IT solutions across the country.
• Lead software selection and implementation projects, collaborating with various departments to ensure successful adoption of technology solutions that meet business needs.
• Ensure IT and cyber security awareness cross the organization, overseeing the adequate resolution of incidents and the implementation of new tools and testing.
• Implement robust IT security measures and ensure compliance with data protection regulations. Develop disaster recovery plans and systems and minimize data breach risks.
• Stay current with technological advancements and innovations, evaluate their relevance to CF Canada, and recommend adoption of new technologies.

Operations, Business Planning and Budget Management

• Complete a detailed monthly review of department spending against budget and ensure accurate and timely accounting and reporting of expenses and analyze and resolve variances.
• Ensure alignment on key implementation strategies.

Other Duties

• Bring a project management discipline to IT and IS projects.
• Foster strong relationships with external vendors, ensuring proper sourcing of suppliers is done that delivers value at the right timeline and quality to the organization; and
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Staff Management Accountabilities

• Manages, engages, and retains qualified employees to meet business priorities.
• Provides authentic leadership, support and direction in the development, alignment, and accomplishment of objectives through on-going performance feedback, recognition, and coaching.
• Provides a safe and healthy work environment for team members and relevant stakeholders. Ensure they work in compliance with The Occupational Health & Safety Act in applicable province of employment, its regulations, and CF Canada’s Health & Safety Policy.

WHAT YOU BRING:

• University degree in a related field (e.g., computer science) and/or a minimum of 10 of progressive experience in similar functions.
• Experience in overseeing the management of Raiser’s Edge or a similar database.
• Ability to anticipate and develop plans to address technological and information systems challenges.
• Current on Cybersecurity and security testing, such as penetration testing to identify and resolve vulnerabilities in systems.
• Evidence of leadership and initiative, experience managing a team, strong interpersonal and relationship building and ability to work with senior level executives with demonstrated ability to build relationships with internal and external key stakeholders.
• Ability to exercise discretion and good judgement, be resourceful, and take initiative and work with tight deadlines in a results-oriented environment.
• Ability to move between strategic and operational thinking and strategy development and tactical execution.
• Expertise in organizational change management and change leadership.
• Strategic negotiation and conflict resolution skills, with the ability to influence others to achieve outcomes.
• Expert level MS Office applications.
• Demonstrated superior communication skills (written/verbal), ability to communicate with a variety of audiences and stakeholders.
