Job Summary
Student Affairs is a collection of integrated units that collaborates with faculty, staff and students to enhance the student experience. We promote an inclusive, holistic and student-centric approach to learning and academic success and act as a professional resource in the delivery of evidence-based student enrolment, wellness, development and academic support programs and services. We are the heart of Dalhousie. Reporting to the Manager Student Health Promotion & Student Experience Programming, the Coordinator, Student Health Promotion & Student Experience Programming will help Student Affairs achieve its strategic vision for delivering the best student experience in Canada by coordinating and delivering existing health promotion programming and initiatives on Sexton, Carlton, Studley and Kings College campuses.
Key Responsibilities
Coordinate and assist in the development and implementation of Student Experience and Holistic Health Promotion Program Plan. Liaise and build partnerships within the university and greater Halifax community organizations to create opportunities for student engagement in support of programming.
Carry out program planning, implementation and assessment, with an emphasis on creating and supporting Dal After Dark alternative programming, in addition to sexual and mental health programming and other health-related opportunities for students.
Identify target groups for programming; ensure participant engagement; review programming through an equity, diversity and inclusion lens as well as for risk management and participant safety. Maintain a student-centered holistic approach using a diversity of evidence-informed tactics and timely follow up.
Review and coordinate recruitment of Social Norming Campaign Ambassadors; Dal After Dark grant committee; and student programming support staff and volunteers. Ensure awareness of expected roles and outcomes for events, provide guidance and mentorship as required.
Review and coordinate Dal After Dark student event grant applications and events, including assessment and follow-up. Assess applications to determine if funding requests meet student health and wellness mandates and ensure responsible allocation of student-generated funds.
Provide financial and personnel support to Manager. Prepare budget recommendations regarding new initiatives or program enhancements. Train, supervise, schedule and evaluate student staff and volunteers in the facilitation and execution of events and programs.

Qualifications
Undergraduate degree in a health-related field plus at least one to three years’ relevant work experience (or equivalent combination of training and experience) is required. Must have experience with planning, developing and assessing inclusive programming within a timeline and budget. Experience in leadership development; community engagement; and evaluation of return on investment is required. Strong proven interpersonal, communication (verbal and written) and technical skills are required. Must be outcome oriented, flexible and adaptive to change. Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion is essential. Must have proven initiative and organizational skills. Assets include experience in a post-secondary education setting; event management; and a Nova Scotia drivers license.
