Job Summary
The Faculty of Medicine (FoM) inspires and enables excellence in health care through its medical education and research programs, and by serving and engaging society. Reporting jointly to the Assistant Dean, Resident Affairs, the Assistant Dean, Student Affairs and to the Executive Director, Operations, the Director, Resident & Student Affairs works collaboratively with many colleagues and partners within the Faculty and beyond to the broader university and medical communities. The primary mission is to enhance the learner experience and to support individual and group success.
Key Responsibilities
Provide leadership and vision in the development, delivery, and review of initiatives and services aimed at ensuring that the Faculty of Medicine is a national leader in offering a high-quality student and resident experience that is respectful, inclusive and serves our diverse student body.
Support the Assistant Deans in the implementation of accreditation standards through effective integration of these standards into the student affairs curriculum across the continuum.
Provide personal, financial, academic and career guidance and support to learners while maintaining a current working knowledge of university policies and procedures
Maintain a thorough working knowledge of available resources and supports within and external to the university community. Triage student and resident issues to appropriate venues for professional counseling, physician assistance or other appropriate support services both internal and external to the university. Facilitate access to medical and mental health services.
Liaise on a regular basis with the Assistant Deans to prioritize strategic goals and objectives, identifying potential programming opportunities.
Oversee the Resident & Student Affairs office including finance, human resources, information technology, policy, data, reporting and facilities. This includes the management of a team of seven staff.

The successful applicant will be eligible for hybrid work (combination of in-person work on campus and remote work) as agreed by all parties based on operational requirements and university guidelines. Qualifications
Master’s degree in adult education, psychology, counselling, or other related discipline, plus significant progressive experience in a related field, including learner affairs, program design and/or counselling, preferably in a university or health care setting (or an equivalent combination of education and experience) is required. The incumbent must have highly effective interpersonal, organizational and communication skills. Knowledge of medical education programs and/or academic health care environment is required. Project management training and experience is preferred.
