Job Summary & Key Responsibilities
The part-time academic will be responsible for teaching the field and lab intensive BIOL/MARI 3626.03, “Field Studies of Marine Mammals”. The course will be offered in person during the Summer session, July 25 – Aug. 9, 2022, Sunday through Saturday, approx. 0905-1655. Responsibilities include all aspects of teaching and administering the course, including lectures, field trips, test preparation, and evaluation of tests and reports. The part-time instructor will be responsible for students at all times of day for 5 days while off campus on a field trip. The part-time academic will also be responsible for preparing a budget in consultation with the program director and keeping field-related expenses within the approved budget. The part-time academic should expect to spend considerable time before and after the official course dates preparing and marking. This position reports to the Chair of the department.
Qualifications/Requirements of Position
A graduate degree in Biology or related field and research experience directly related to the topic of the course. Preference will be given to candidates possessing a Ph.D. and/or previous university teaching experience in the subject of the course.
