What will your typical day look like?

During your time with us, you will participate in the end-to-end client service lifecycle – from business development to project delivery – while also getting to know the different teams and leaders. You will also benefit from ongoing learning opportunities to further develop and refine your core and technical skills.

• Work in a collaborative team analyzing client issues and interviewing key personnel
• Work with clients in creating marketing documents, including teasers, Confidential Information Memorandum and management presentations to be used by potential acquirers and capital providers
• Analyzing financial data, reviewing accounting records and develop financial models in order to assist clients in understanding potential transaction valuations
• Participate in client presentations
• Prioritize your objectives and contribute to project planning and status reporting
• Work with high profile clients on a variety of Canadian engagements

About the team

Our corporate finance professionals enhance value through the delivery of strategic advice and execution services to owner managed mid-market companies, large corporations and financial institutions who are seeking M&A advice that complement their growth strategies.

We work with clients throughout the M&A life cycle from defining our clients’ objectives, creating marketing materials, contacting potential acquirers, negotiating agreements with our clients’ legal team and closing a transaction.

• Our strategic advisory services include analysis and development of:
• Value realization programs including initial public offerings, recapitalizations, or exits via divestiture for corporations, private equity firms, and family enterprises
• Optimal capital structures and financing options for companies at all stages of their capital life cycle
• Growth strategies incorporating business partnerships or structured acquisition programs

Transaction execution services include:

• Divestiture of businesses (non-core, succession, growth)
• Raising all forms of long-term financing, including senior debt, mezzanine and subordinated debt, and private equity financing
• Management buyouts
• Permanent Analysts within Financial Advisory join our two-year Quick Start development program. Through Quick Start, analysts receive up-front training covering key topics from across our Financial Advisory practice, including advisory and technical skills, quality/risk processes, engagement lifecycle, and project management principles. Once the training is complete, our analysts are deployed on client engagements, proposals, and strategic initiatives. A CPA stream is available for analysts who need to obtain working hours for their designation.
• The objective of our Quick Start program is to provide analysts with exposure to a broad range of engagements, projects, and initiatives from across all service lines within our Financial Advisory practice. By developing core skills across multiple dimensions, the program aims to assist our analysts in building their careers as future advisors and agile leaders.

In this role, the expected qualifications are:

• Working towards completing a post-secondary degree or diploma and is available to complete a co-op/internship in Summer 2023
• Excellent interpersonal relations and demonstrated ability to work with others effectively in teams
• Demonstrates aptitude for quantitative and qualitative analysis, such as financial analysis or modeling, market research and analysis, project problem diagnosis & solution development
• Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
• Excellent problem solving, project management and interpersonal skills and ability to work in an ambiguous environment
• High proficiency in Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams etc.)

Canadian travel required, occasional international travel. Candidates must be able to enter the USA to work on client assignments.
