Active Podiatry & Orthotics is searching for an energetic, knowledgeable and goal-oriented team player to join our clinic as a clinical assistant. Duties include:
– Helping the Podiatrist with surgeries by providing patient education about the procedure, obtaining informed consent as well as putting the patient at ease by answering any questions
– Helping the Podiatrist during the procedures with instrument handling
– Preparing and tidying treatment rooms after treatments and surgeries by following infection control guidelines
– Helping the Podiatrist with prescription products
– Helping patients by demonstrating exercise techniques and educating them regarding their specific medical condition(s)
– Conducting and facilitating treatments such as laser therapy, shockwave therapy, onychomycosis laser therapy, and compression therapy
– Being a liaison between patients and Podiatrist, and Podiatrist to other medical professionals
– Conducting compression therapy education sessions, measuring for compression stockings and other medical products
Requirements:
– Diploma or degree in healthcare such as kinesiology, kinesiology assistant, physiotherapy assistant, health sciences, practical nursing, and medical therapies
– 0–1-year experience in operating medical equipment and devices
– Experience (2-3 years) in working in advanced health care facilities such as dental office, medical specialists’ office, and multidisciplinary teams such as physiotherapy
– A passion for health of individuals and communities
– Knowledge in human physiology and anatomy
– Experience with and knowledge of medical vocabulary
– Physical strength and stamina to work with body tissue and fluids
– Reliable means of transportation
– Excellent work ethics, references, and police clearance check
– Excellent sales skills and self confidence
– Responsible and accountable
– Able to multitask and work well under pressure
Remuneration: $16/ hour training, $18-19/hour after training given skills and experience, and monthly production bonus.
Hours: Mon – Thur 9:00 Am to 5:00 Pm, Fridays: 9:00 Am to 1:00 Pm. Hours may vary based on demand.
This is a permanent full-time position. This position is not for someone who is transitioning to get into medical or nursing school. Additionally, this is not a position for a current or future student. There is much growth and potential within this position for the right individual who will consider this as a career and will work with us long term.
