Here’s how you’ll contribute to the team and customer success:

Dream Payments is expanding and looking to add to its Engineering team with a motivated Junior Project Engineer. Reporting to the Senior Project Manager, the Junior Project Engineer is accountable on an ongoing basis for implementing to the short-term plans and long-term strategy for Dream Payments’ cloud and platform services aligned with the strategic IT roadmap.

Work with a diverse team of technology domains, including Architecture, Engineering, Business Analytics, and Product Engineering from the various business units who will explore and execute technology opportunities and options aligned with long-term organizational goals. S/He will be called upon to perform analysis to determine the best path forward to solve technical problems, create opportunities, and optimize systems, that may include architecture improvement, process improvement, products innovation, systems improvement, change management and/or vendor selection.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and participate in cultivating a helpful, team oriented environment by collaborating in open knowledge sharing, through in-office whiteboarding sessions and adhoc inter-team discussions.
• Work with Project Management team to prepare estimations of development efforts and activities breakdown.
• Interact with peers before updating supervisors, interaction will often be with management levels at the client and/or within Dream Payments.
• Receive minimal instruction on daily work tasks and a moderate level of instruction on new assignments.
• Responsible for the development of deployment build scripts.
• Ensure assigned tasks are completed and delivered within the project timelines, working overtime as needed.
• Guide, create and coach the Scrum Team on Agile practices and principles to deliver high-quality products and services.
• Foster self-organization, cross-functional skills, and effective communication within the Scrum team.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to influence decision-making and support project or product teams.
• Exemplify and promote Agile values and principles, contributing to the continuous improvement of Agile practices.
• Facilitate all Scrum events, including Sprint Planning, Daily Scrum, Sprint Review, and Sprint Retrospective.
• Utilize corporate objectives and priorities to ensure teams are working on the right piece of work.
• Analyze and resolve a wide range of impediments that are strategic, organizational or technical in nature.

Basic Qualifications

• Basic experience with software design patterns.
• Basic knowledge of SQL scripting, and one of the following databases MySQL, DynamoDB, or Postgresql.
• Basic experience of RESTful Web Services.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Good communication skills – both oral and written.
• Experience leading and mentoring teams in agile principles, policies, and procedures.
• Experience planning work that aligns with product owner priorities (Sprint planning and backlog planning).
• Experience with Agile and Waterfall methodology.
• Experience working on agile software development and modern, service design-based product delivery for large organizations or addressing complex challenges at scale.
• In-depth knowledge of Agile principles, Scrum frameworks and techniques as well as the ability to mentor others in their application of Agile and Scrum.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant experience.
• Experience working with teams of 10+ developers and QA teams would be an asset
• In-depth knowledge of Agile frameworks or methods (e.g., Scrum, Kanban) and a thorough understanding of the software development lifecycle.
• Proficiency with Agile development tools such as Zoho Projects, Jira, or similar platforms.
• Solid understanding of traditional project management principles and practices.

Professional Skill Requirements

• Proven ability to communicate and work with an offshore team.
• Proven ability to work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment
• Desire to work in an information systems environment.
• Excellent leadership, communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills.
• Education background in computer systems and/or engineering considered an asset.
• Working experience with various SDLC methods like Iterative or traditional waterfall.
• Familiar with Agile, Scrum, Iterative and Waterfall Development and project methodologies.
• Scrum Master certification would be an asset
• Current or previous Scrum Master experience would be an asset
• Experience supporting multiple teams is an asset
