Financial Controller – Hamilton, ON

Durisol Noise Barrier Systems is the market leader in the noise barrier and retaining wall industry. Our company designs and supplies materials for proprietary noise and retaining wall systems – including Durisol precast absorptive noise barrier panels, transparent noise barriers, fire-rated barriers, narrow footprint retaining walls and MSE retaining walls. We perform all duties associated with our jobs, including sales, engineering/design, manufacturing, and construction support.

Job Description

We are looking for a Financial Controller to join our team in Hamilton as a full-time employee.

Job Requirements

• Responsible for financial controllership of the company, including analysis and measurement
• Oversee the monthly financial close process, including ensuring all costs incurred are properly recorded, reviewing journal entries, account balance reconciliations and report preparation
• Manage all activity posted to the general ledger to ensure accuracy and integrity of data posted to the ERP software
• Issue timely and complete financial statements
• Calculate and issue financial and operating metrics
• Manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts
• Participate in General Ledger, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable and Inventory processes
• Ensure payroll is processed accurately and in a timely manner
• Ensure that period bank reconciliations are completed
• Provide financial analyses as needed, in particular for capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations
• Manage and comply with provincial and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings
• Make recommendations for changes as needed and ensure that company policies and procedures are followed
• Lead, motivate and coach a team of accounting staff

· Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

· Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business administration, or equivalent business experience

· CPA designation

· 5-10 Years of progressively responsible experience

· Strong operations partnership experience

· Previous experience in managing a computerized ERP accounting system

· Proficiency in using Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel

· Ability to write clear, concise and formal business communications

· Detail-oriented, organized and the ability to prioritize and time-manage

· Ability to leverage strengths of the current finance team members

Schedule:

• 8 hour shift
• Monday to Friday

Education:

• Bachelor’s Degree (preferred)

Experience:

• Accounting: 5 years (preferred)
• Accounting ERP system: 5 years (preferred)

Licence/Certification:

• Chartered Professional Accountant Designation (preferred)
• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Administration (preferred)
