Some 40 years ago, Leroy “Bus” Earl Fuller and his son Stanley Earl Fuller had a simple idea: to create a laid-back burger and beer joint filled with warm, friendly people. The first Earls restaurant opened in Edmonton, Alberta in 1982, and it quickly took off — Earls has never looked back, opening locations across Canada and the US. Today, Earls has expanded to 69 locations (and counting!) and we’re looking forward to our continued growth across North America.
While much has changed since Bus and Stan opened the first Earls restaurant all those years ago, many things are the same — Earls is still a family-owned business, run by great people who are passionate about serving our guests delicious, globally-inspired food and drinks through exceptional service and an inviting environment. Are you looking to be part of an exciting but not-so-average accounting team; one where you’re not just another “bean counter” balancing debits and credits?
Earls Kitchen + Bar is seeking a Senior Accountant for our Finance Team. In this role, you will be a part of a dynamic group working together to provide the restaurants with the most up-to-date and concise financial reports while supporting any other requests that may be needed.
Please note: This individual will need to be based in Lower Mainland, BC.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Review/monitor Trial Balances prepared by the team of two restaurant accountants
- Hiring and training of restaurant accountants when a position is vacant
- Hold performance reviews alongside the Director for two restaurant accountants
- Manage the transition of changes in Operations systems to align with Accounting routines
- Liaise with Operations Management on accounting issues
- Other ad hoc duties such as company-wide project reporting
- Assist with annual external audit queries
- Reports to the Director of Accounting
QUALIFICATIONS
- Passed the CPA CFE or currently enrolled in CPA program at the Capstone level
- 3 to 4 years experience in a full-cycle accounting role
- Knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and applications
- Enjoy working as part of a team with the ability to communicate effectively and professionally
- Advanced knowledge of MS Excel required
- Organized and able to allocate time effectively, manage multiple demands and competing priorities, and willingness to adapt to new ideas and changes
- Good problem-solving skills
- Experience in the hospitality industry is an asset
