What is Required for the Position

• Minimum 10 years construction experience.
• 3 plus years supervisor experience
• A degree in civil engineering or engineering tech, (P.Eng., CET, C Tech, etc. ideal) or related field experience.
• Understanding of trenchless technology and open cut work for linear civil construction in the sewer and watermain sector
• Exceptional communication skills, written, verbal, online
• Demonstrated commitment to your team and the aims and goals of the company
• Demonstrated experience in cost savings on project delivery
• Demonstrated experience developing customer focused client relationships
• Keen sense of foresight and versatility and a track record for creative problem solving
• Excellent oral and written skills a must.

The Job

As an Earth Boring Superintendent your job will be overall construction management of combined trenchless and open cut projects. You will assume responsibilities throughout the construction process including design, budget, schedule and end to end field execution of the work. You will be responsible for managing staff, both field and sub-contractors, performing staff recruiting/assignments and job management. You have a winning attitude and demonstrated success in developing solutions to tough and challenging problems. You are an outstanding communicator, with a strong, well developed production focused approach to safely delivering the work.

The Tasks

• In consultation with Project Manager, coordinate overall management and scheduling of project(s), subcontractors, consultants, inspectors and vendors/suppliers to complete each project on time
• You will develop, author and collaborate on budgets for trenchless designs, methodologies, submittals and schedules.
• Maintain positive relationships with heavy civil suppliers
• You are adept at identifying talent and recruiting labour and operator resources to support project needs.
• Monitor work and materials to ensure quality control standards are met at various stages of the project
• Communicate with the project team and support each subcontractor to execute his job duties effectively and efficiently
• Perform inspections or schedule inspectors to meet the varying safety and compliance regulations of each job location
• Maintain a written daily electronic log of visitors, job actions performed, materials expended, and problems resolved on the job site
• Travel between multiple job sites and simultaneously manage work loads of individual projects
• Identify and resolve problems and conflicts, organizing meetings and cooperating with team members in various roles as necessary
• Set an example in keeping the job site organized and clean, including meeting standards for waste disposal and environmental protection
• Maximize cost/price margins and ensure the companies interests are foremost during the project lifecycle. Change management and cost control are routine and evident in your work.
• Manage and support all aspects related to daily production, production issues, extra claims management and related time and material cost management.
• Communicate on progress and issues on project job sites on daily basis to senior management
• Provide troubleshooting and deliver meaningful solutions to complex trenchless and open cut problems
• Detail oriented and constantly looking at ways to improve the process and maximize production efficiencies.
• Sound understanding of complex trenchless systems and ability to clearly articulate needs, issues and production concerns.
• You seek to add value to the works, and innovate solutions to make processes efficient, safer reliable, sustainable and more productive
