ECOH is currently looking for a Project Technologist (Building Assessment Conditions) to join our Environmental team. As a Project Technologist, you will demonstrate sound knowledge and understanding of building systems including general knowledge of structure, building enclosures, roofing systems, interior elements, site features, mechanical and electrical systems, etc.
Here is what you will be doing:
- Review and complete assessments of existing buildings and structures (roof assemblies, exterior cladding assemblies, balcony assemblies, fenestrations, and parking garage structures) to determine design and remedial work options.
- Conduct invasive building assessments and testing (ex. Roof cut tests, water / leak tests, etc.)
- Carry out all necessary quantity takeoffs and measurements over the course of a project.
- Carry out construction reviews to ensure quality standards and design requirements are achieved.
- Prepare written reports of findings, summarizing, collating, and interpreting the results of field data.
- Development of capital planning strategies.
- Development of designs and specifications for restoration projects.
- Conduct Building and Property Condition Assessments in accordance with the ASTM standards and best construction practices at various client sites.
- Financial involvement and coordination with project.
- Maintain QA/QC protocols.
- Maintain health and safety protocols as well as quality control within the team.
- Perform any other job-related duties that may be assigned.
Here are the job requirements:
- College Diploma in Building Science, Architectural Technology / Science, Construction Technology or Civil Engineering Technology. Bachelor of Science or Applied Science is preferred.
- 1 to 3 years of industry experience is preferred.
- Experience with building construction or maintenance preferred.
- Knowledge of building envelope assemblies preferred.
- Knowledge and proficiency using AutoCAD is required.
- Knowledge of WUFI and Therm is an asset.
- Knowledge of HVAC systems is an asset.
- Knowledge of the Ontario Building Code will be considered an asset.
- Experience with Building Condition Assessments in accordance with the “ASTM Designation: E 2018 – 15 Standard Guide for Property Condition Assessments: Baseline Property Condition Assessment Process” will be considered optional.
- Must be able to read and edit technical specifications, drawings, and reports.
- Experience writing technical reports is preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Ability to safely transport and carry 20-foot extension or folding ladder, hand tools and PPE is required.
- Willingness to work alone and/or in remote locations as required.
- Ability to work from heights is required.
- Valid driver’s license, insurance & personal vehicle required (work related travel expenses will be compensated)
