Position Description
The Senior HR Officer plays a key role in developing policies, policy language, and providing knowledge that increases awareness of human rights and strengthens capacity to prevent discrimination and promote Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, Accessibility
(IDEA), and encourage full participation in the cultural, social, economic, and political life of small to medium sized businesses across Canada.
Large-scale, complex issues of social change involve multiple sectors and diverse stakeholders working together in collaboration. The Senior HR Officer will engage with organizations, communities, and sectors to develop effective strategies that increase awareness and use of IDEA and decolonization frameworks to remove barriers and eliminate instances of discrimination for marginalized and equity-denied groups including women, persons with disabilities, 2SLGBTQI+ peoples, Indigenous peoples, racialized peoples, and immigrants and refugees.
Creativity, forging relationships, and policy planning skills are key to assisting organizations with designing and delivering solutions to human rights issues that impact them, their employees, and their clients. Under the direction of the Director of Human
Resources, the Senior HR Officer will work with small to medium size business participants to help implement individual, community, organizational and systemic change. This position is national in scope and works with different communities, both geographic and communities of interest across Canada.
