Responsibilities:
– The Site Superintendent is mainly responsible for coordinating with subcontractors and suppliers, monitoring project schedules and budgets, and representing Elevate Construction Partners Inc. (ECP) on our job sites.
– Become familiar with and adhere to ECP company vision, mission statement, core values.
– Be reliable, self driven, have a strong work ethic and take pride in every project.
– Maintain a positive attitude to contribute to a favorable atmosphere on job sites.
– Review and become familiar with all project details including specifications, drawings, project schedules and budgets to effectively understand the scope of the work.
– Be proactive in identifying potential issues/conflicts to avoid delays on the projects.
– Coordinate project start up tasks including site mobilization of site office, site signage, portable toilets, fencing etc.
– Arrange for temporary utilities as required.
– Follow ECP project start up protocols.
– Schedule and coordinate sub-trades to ensure workers and materials are on site when required.
– Promote and practice strong communication between sub-trades, foremen, and other workers on site.
– Review anticipated job site attendance requirements with project managers to ensure budgets are adhered to. May be required to manage multiple smaller projects at once.
– Oversee and enforce ECP quality assurance plan and safety management plan on site.
– Review of shop drawing submittals to ensure compliance with project specifications.
– Maintain and organize project documents and assist with compiling all close out documents.
– Maintain and update the project schedule regularly for review with the Project Team. Notify Team of potential issues that may cause delays or schedule creep.
– Must be proficient with current technology used in the industry including basic computer use and associated software, smart phones, printers/scanners including managing emails and responding promptly to maintain project efficiency.
– Work well under pressure and maintain composure, particularly when faced with unexpected occurrences and delays.
– Complete daily logs for recording activities on site, sub-trade attendance, weather conditions, and issues if any.
– Assist Project Manager and Project Coordinator with coordinating and maintaining records of change orders, site instructions, RFI’s, and shop drawings.
– Manage project wrap-up activities including commissioning, final cleaning and maintain punch lists and complete deficiencies in a timely manner.
– Maintain professional working relationships with Project Team including client, subcontractors, consultants and inspectors.
– Facilitate site meetings with the client representatives, subcontractors, and consultants at regular intervals as agreed to by all parties.
Safety Responsibilities:
– Become familiar with, and apply ECP health and safety policies, safe work practices, procedures, rules, and legislated OH&S requirements.
– Ensure that all workers carry out tasks in a safe manner and that they use protective devices and procedures required by the company and by legislation to protect their health and safety.
– Be aware of any potential or actual dangers on site and advise workers on how to isolate, prevent, or remove such dangers.
– Report all incidents to management immediately, assist with investigating all accidents, and advise management on how to prevent similar incidents in the future.
– When required, in case of injury or illness arrange for medical treatments and/or transportation to a doctor or hospital if necessary.
– Perform regular site inspections to ensure a safe and healthy job site.
– Take every reasonable precaution to protect the safety of other workers and themselves.
– Maintain current Leadership in Safety Excellence (LSE) training.
– Maintain current Standard First Aid, Ground Disturbance, Fall Arrest tickets among other safety training as directed by a company safety officer.
Skills:
– Proficient in using construction management software
– Strong knowledge of construction estimating and budgeting processes
– Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and construction documents
– Experience with quality control procedures in the construction industry
– Excellent supervisory skills to effectively manage subcontractors and on-site personnel
– Familiarity with using tools such as Bluebeam for document management and collaboration
Journeyman Carpenter ticket, C.E.T., C.Tech., or other formal related training considered an asset.
