SPECIALIST, LOGISTICS (CANADA)
Emergent BioSolutions is currently seeking a Specialist, Logistics for our Winnipeg Site. The successful candidate will have 5+ years of Logistics experience with experience in international/cross border movement of goods. Must have strong interpersonal and negotiations skills, be highly organized and have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Experience working within the pharmaceutical industry or a similarly regulated industry and enrolment in or achievement of C.I.T.T Designation is considered an asset. THE OPPORTUNITY
The Specialist, Logistics is responsible for: ensuring all logistics timelines are being met, shipping/receiving and customs related activities, including carrier scheduling, adherence to current Canadian, US and international customs requirements for the import and export of materials, completion of required customs and related documentation, consultation and coordination with internal working groups, customers and with suppliers.
In addition, this role will work with other Materials Management personnel as well as personnel from throughout the company to ensure shipping requests are executed in a timely manner and, are compliant with applicable regulatory requirements.
The Specialist is also responsible for internal processes like CAPAs, Change Controls, Deviations and implementing process improvements.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Coordinate all logistics functions, to ensure that all timelines are met.
Assists in developing logistics plans and procedures.
Developing professional expertise, applies company policies and procedures to resolve a variety of issues.
Builds productive internal/external working relationships.
Schedule, track, trace and support shipments for buyers/contract manufacturing/customer service/engineering/laboratory etc. as requested including ensuring daily shipping reports are received from various freight supplies.
Coordinate shipments involving dedicated trucks used to transport finished product to various destinations within North America, including the accurate completion of all required official documents.
Coordinate air shipments of finished products to international destinations.
Respond to daily inquiries from internal and external stakeholders/customers.
Prepare shipping / customs documents for all outbound shipments.
Process parts returns of suppliers, including the completion of customs documents (if required), waybills, and arranging for pickups.
Coordinate the yearly collection of NAFTA certificates including sending out requests, recording responses, ensuring the completeness of certificates and following up as required; ensuring brokers have copies, updating database with country of origin/tariff numbers as required.
Applying for COO certificate via online TradeCert Canada with Winnipeg Chamber of Commerce.
Complete and maintain Customs Compliance Manuals.
Support daily logistics operations, manage relationships with transportation providers.
Coordinating internally with finance and business partners, freight forwarders, and 3PLs for timely and accurate shipment releases and deliveries.
Performing required inventory transactions in the ERP system.
Interpreting INCOTERMS and providing advice to Sales, having strong working knowledge of import/export.
Supporting Hattiesburg site for all DOD shipments of RSDL product, as well as all other domestic and international logistics activities. Coordinating RSDL Bulk shipments from Winnipeg to Hattiesburg site.
Coordinating BARDA/SNS finished goods shipment out of Winnipeg site.
Working with Legal and Sales on international shipments under Letter of Credit.
Supporting Purchasing in new projects department and working with suppliers to obtain and import material in a timely fashion matter.
Reviewing and approving vendor’s invoices.
Conduct deviations, change controls, CAPAs and process improvement initiatives.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:
5+ years of Logistics experience.
Experience in international/cross border movement of goods.
Must have strong interpersonal and negotiation skills with the ability to work under limited supervision as a member of a work group.
Must be highly organized and able to handle multiple priorities in a timely manner.
Must have excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills.
Asset or Preferred:
Enrolment in or achievement of C.I.T.T Designation.
Experience working in the pharmaceutical industry or a similarly regulated industry.
Computer skills – MS Office, Crystal Reports, Database Management and SAP.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Citizenship/Permanent Resident or Valid Work Permit.
Successful Completion of a Criminal Record Check.
